Seimeda

Premium weather-resistant silicone building sealant

← Back to all products

Seimeda Overview

Seimeda is a single-component silicone building sealant made for glazing and construction joints. It is formulated to stay flexible and adhere strongly across the mixed materials that show up around a window or a glazed facade — glass, aluminium, stainless steel, ceramics, plastics and timber.

Single-component means it comes ready to use with no mixing or measuring on site, and cures on contact with moisture in the air. That matters practically: two-part sealants have to be proportioned and mixed correctly, and mixing errors are a common source of joints that never cure properly.

It is aimed at the work we do every day — installing and sealing windows and doors, glazing sunrooms, and sealing joints on smaller glazed assemblies.

Where Seimeda fits in our work

Sealant is not a product our clients choose, but it is one that decides whether their windows leak. Seimeda single-component silicone is one of the sealants we use for the weather seal between a window or door frame and the wall, for glazing beads and for the joints in shower enclosures, alongside DOWSIL where a structural or a specified sealant is required. It is a neutral-cure silicone, so it does not corrode the aluminium or attack the coatings, and it stays flexible through the thermal movement of an aluminium frame in a New York winter.

How we seal a window

Every window we install gets a continuous exterior perimeter seal over a backer rod, an interior air seal, and a sill pan sealed at its ends; the sealant is tooled, not smeared, and the joint is sized so the bead can stretch. Where a specification names a sealant — a curtain wall, a structural glazing job, a warranty condition — we use the named product. See waterproofing and DOWSIL.

Supply

We supply Seimeda sealant with our installations and to contractors who want the same material we use; tell us the quantity and the colour.

S807 sunroom sealant on test

Seimeda S807 is the maker’s weatherproof silicone labelled for architectural sunlight rooms: sunroom, conservatory and skylight glazing. We have a sample on the bench and are running adhesion, sag, compatibility and weathering tests; the write-up, and how to get a free sample from the distributor, is in Seimeda S807: what it is and how we are testing it.

Questions People Ask

What is Seimeda sealant?

A single-component, neutral-cure silicone building sealant for glazing and construction joints, used for weather sealing windows and doors and for glazing beads.

Is Seimeda a structural silicone?

No; it is a weather and glazing sealant. Structural glazing uses a structural silicone such as DOWSIL 795 or 995.

Why neutral-cure?

Neutral-cure silicones do not release acetic acid as they cure, so they do not corrode aluminium, attack coatings or etch mirrors.

What colours are available?

Clear, white, black, grey and bronze as standard; we match the frame colour.

Do you sell Seimeda?

Yes, with our installations and to contractors; ask for quantity pricing.
