Each sheet is ours: our layout, the product facts you need for a schedule or a quote, and a note on where the product fits and where it does not. Where a sheet describes a manufacturer’s program, the manufacturer is named and their certifications are theirs. The library grows with the Tuesday articles on News & Blog; each article links to its sheet.
In the library: Alex GC sheets · Test reports · Manufacturer catalogs & technical data
Written by us, in our layout: the product facts an architect, GC or owner needs for a schedule or a quote, and a note on where the product fits and where it does not.
Weight of any lite or unit by size and make-up — annealed, tempered, laminated, insulated and triple — with tables by thickness and the hardware and handling limits the weight runs into.
Four programs by opening (windows, doors, large doors), size limits, unit thickness, Low-E and tint options, operator positions, slat colours, safety certifications, lead times, and the trade-off on cavity fill. One page.
Identify the frame (offset uPVC, centre-seal, flush, aluminum, wood, drip rail), then match it against six screen systems — the flexible spring-steel frame, rebate frames with plungers, fixed and hinged exterior frames, rollers, pleated. Tilt clearance, mesh, landmark notes. One page.
All fourteen side-by-side comparisons are gathered on the comparisons page.
Comparisons and material guides, written for the questions we are asked most; each links to the product pages and the projects behind it.
Laminated glass interlayers (PVB vs SGP) · Low-E coatings by orientation · Acoustic IG make-ups · Tempered vs heat-strengthened · Bird-safe glass. A new sheet joins the library with each Tuesday article.
About this page. Written by Alex GC Inc. d/b/a Alex Glass Construction and reviewed before publication by Aleksandr Chernovolenko, Managing Partner, with our design and estimating lead and a field foreman. Our foremen hold the NYC DOB Site Safety Training supervisor card and our crews the 40-hour worker card; we are certified to fabricate, install and service Alutech and Everest aluminum systems. Facts are drawn from our own projects, manufacturer test data and the applicable codes; where we are giving an opinion, we say so. Last reviewed September 2026. Credentials
Third-party laboratory reports on the window, door and curtain-wall systems we fabricate and install — structural (air, water and structural load), thermal (U-factor, SHGC) and acoustic (STC, OITC) performance, tested to the applicable AAMA/NAFS, NFRC and ASTM standards. Reports are the manufacturer’s, issued by the testing laboratory named on each; we publish them as provided so the numbers can be checked at the source. Headline results are also shown on each system’s brand page.
Note: the files published here are the summary and results pages of each report. The full report is released to the project architect and owner once an order is placed.
Laboratory sound transmission loss test to ASTM E90 on an Alutech W72 fixed window, carried out by Intertek for Alutech Systems s.r.o. Report no. L3951.02-113-11-R0, tested 29 January 2021, issued 31 July 2023. The same specimen was tested with four glass make-ups:
| Glass | STC | OITC |
|---|---|---|
| 34 mm insulated unit: 6 mm tempered, 24 mm air space, 4 mm tempered | 36 | 28 |
| 34 mm insulated unit: 8 mm tempered, 20 mm air space, 6 mm tempered | 37 | 29 |
| 38.8 mm insulated unit: 12.8 mm laminated, 20 mm air space, 6 mm tempered | 41 | 31 |
| 41.6 mm insulated unit: 12.8 mm laminated, 20 mm air space, 8.8 mm laminated | 48 | 38 |
STC rates speech-range sound; OITC rates low-frequency outdoor noise such as traffic. The file holds the cover and the summary of results from the 30-page report; a single page of a test report is not the complete report. The full report is released to the project architect and owner once an order is placed. Results apply to the specimen and glass tested.

Product brochures, profile catalogs, installation manuals and glass data sheets for the systems we supply. Where the manufacturer publishes a document openly, we link to it on their site so what you open is the edition in force. Where the document is only available to dealers, we host the manufacturer’s brochure here as supplied to us. Use these for the full range and the fine print; use our sheets above for the short answer.
Cortizo’s 70 mm thermally broken hinged system for windows, doors and balcony doors: tilt-and-turn, side-hung, bottom-hung and outward-opening, with visible or hidden sash, up to large sash sizes. The system we installed at 5-13 47th Road and on Gravesend Neck Road. The full technical catalog (profile sections, glazing tables, hardware, performance data), the technical file and BIM objects are on Cortizo’s site; the industrial catalog runs to several hundred pages, which is why we link it rather than copy it.
Cortizo’s frameless glass railing: a U-shaped aluminum base profile that clamps laminated glass along its bottom edge only, with no posts, so the guard is a clear sheet of glass. The catalog is the full technical file: profiles, accessories, construction sections, glazing tables, cutting and fabrication details, machining and maintenance. It shows the four ways the base can be fixed (on top of the slab, flush on the slab, to the slab edge, and inverted at the slab edge), the drainage detail for exposed locations and the optional round and flat top rails.
Glass: twelve laminated make-ups, two lites of 6, 8 or 10 mm bonded by 0.38 to 1.52 mm of PVB interlayer, with tempered glass recommended and a maximum guard height of 1100 mm. The manufacturer states a line load of 1.0 kN/m for View Crystal and 3.0 kN/m for View Crystal Plus, and a Class A (Excellent) result under the Spanish UNE 85240 tests.
These figures are Cortizo’s, tested to Spanish and European standards. A guard in New York or New Jersey has to be engineered to the local building code for that building; ask us before specifying. See railing systems.
Alutech’s aluminum sub-frame for ventilated rainscreen cladding: brackets and vertical rails fixed to the wall or the floor slabs, insulation behind, an air cavity, and the cladding hung in front. The brochure shows the three frame designs (Classic and Economy, mounted to the wall; Reinforced, mounted slab to slab) and the fixing method for each cladding type: concealed fixing of aluminum composite and metal cassettes; visible or concealed fixing of fiber-cement and HPL sheets; visible clips for porcelain tile; framed or clamped large-format thin porcelain from 3 mm; and concealed fixing of porcelain and natural stone. Manufacturer’s stated figures: approved for buildings up to 150 m, insulation up to 300 mm thick, design life over 50 years, profiles in 6063 alloy anodized to Qualanod requirements.
These are the manufacturer’s figures under its own approvals. On a US project the cladding assembly, anchors and fire performance are engineered and approved for that building; ask us before specifying. See also rain-screen systems.
The full technical catalog for Everest’s 71 000 series, the thermally broken aluminum system for windows and doors with a wide 34 mm polyamide thermal barrier between the inner and outer halves of the frame. It is a fabricator’s document: general notes, the list of profiles, every profile drawn at 1:1 with its weight and section properties, gasket and glazing-bead tables, accessories and hardware, typical sections through windows and doors, cutting formulas and machining.
From the general notes: profiles extruded in EN AW-6060 alloy; glass or panels from 11 to 46 mm thick, which covers double and triple insulated units; crimped or pinned corner joints; a drained and pressure-equalized frame chamber; and dedicated profiles for arched sashes as well as straight ones. The manufacturer also publishes an environmental product declaration covering this series.
Catalog data is the manufacturer’s and is indicative. Sizes, glass and performance for a building in New York or New Jersey are confirmed project by project; ask us before specifying. See our Everest page and aluminum windows.
Pella’s brochure for the Reserve – Traditional line: wood windows and patio doors with an extruded aluminum-clad exterior, designed around historical detailing. It covers the putty-glaze exterior profile, through-stile construction with butt joints on the cladding, Integral Light Technology grilles that give the look of true divided light, period hardware, and the Integrated Rolscreen retractable screen for double-hung and single-hung windows.
It also lists the available styles (double-hung, single-hung, casement, push-out casement, awning, fixed, bay and bow, corner, angle-top and curve-top windows, hinged and sliding patio doors), the wood species (pine, Douglas fir, mahogany, white oak, red oak, cherry, maple), interior prefinish and exterior cladding colors, grille patterns, and the glass options: Low-E insulating glass with argon in dual or triple pane, laminated, sound-control and impact-resistant glass on select products.
The brochure is Pella’s and is published as issued; options and availability vary by product and change without notice, and warranty terms are Pella’s own (pella.com/warranty). Sizes, glass and options for a building in New York or New Jersey are confirmed project by project. See our Pella page, wood and clad windows and the Pella projects at 343 Hoyt Street and Coleridge Street.

Official New York City publications that bear on doors, entrances and glazing, kept here for owners, landlords and managing agents. They are the city’s documents, published unchanged.
HPD’s two-page guide for property owners. Apartment doors and hallway doors are required by law to swing closed and latch by themselves; all residential buildings with three or more apartments must have self-closing doors; owners should test them periodically and repair closers, doors and frames promptly. It includes a five-point test and a summary of an owner’s fire-safety responsibilities, including keeping building entrance doors clear.
For what inspectors look for at the building entrance itself, see HPD entrance door violations: requirements, cost and timeline and our case study. The entrance-door law is Multiple Dwelling Law § 50-a.
